We are excited to announce Launching Into Success: Camp Accelerate for High School students. Our first-ever high school enrichment camps offer a myriad of opportunities for students currently enrolled in 9th-12th grade (yes current graduates may attend). Students may choose from one of the four camps OR choose all four, the camps have been scheduled in such a way to allow students the ability to participate in all of them for FREE!
WHEN: July 6th through July 30th.

- College Prep Camp: College Prep Camp using Modern States is a way for students to earn real college credits, and potentially save tuition dollars, by passing tests offered by The College Board, which administers the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams in math, history, science and many other subjects. Students select the course they want to take. Courses will be facilitated by a St. Landry Parish School Board-certified teacher. If a student scores a 75% or better on coursework, the student will receive a CLEP voucher to take the CLEP test at no charge which may lead to college credit. Hybrid--(in-person 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.: July 6th-9th and July 26th-30th; Virtual--(8:00 a.m.-9:15 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. July 12th to 23rd).
- Book Club Camp: Students will participate in virtual group discussions two times per week while reading and preparing for their assigned roles.Students will be given an option to select a book of interest. Discussion groups will be developed based on common interest in book selections. Groups will collaborate to determine reading pace and select roles for each individual to facilitate in literature circle discussions. Virtual: July 6th-30th
- NASA ASTRO CAMP: Explore the mysteries of space with us as we take spacewalks in virtual reality, build working robots, plan a lunar colony, launch rockets, explore the surface of Mars, make out-of-this-world astronaut ice cream, and collaborate as a crew to complete challenging space missions. In partnership with NASA, Central Creativity is bringing Astro Camp® to St. Landry Parish! The goal of Astro Camp® is to give ALL students the chance to get involved in and experience Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to inspire future astronauts and engineers to learn about space with NASA activities. - SHELL ENERGY VENTURE CAMP: Discover tomorrow's energy today! Join us as we investigate the renewable and sustainable energy solutions of the future. Investigate solar technology as you make your very own working solar panels from scratch! Learn how the energy sector is tackling the challenge of climate change and how you can help! You'll work together using camper-built renewable energy designs, virtual reality headsets, electronics, chemistry, bio-engineering, and many other emerging solutions to tackle real-world energy challenges in this one-of-a-kind Shell Energy experience!
