We are excited to announce Mrs. April Guidry's appointment as the new principal of Grand Prairie Elementary School. With 24 years of experience in St. Landry Parish public education, Mrs. Guidry has held various positions, including elementary classroom teacher, learning center teacher, high school librarian, and administrative assistant.
Mrs. Guidry is a proud 1995 graduate of Port Barre High School. Post-secondary, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Louisiana College in Pineville, LA, later earning her Educational Leadership letter of eligibility. Throughout her career in the St. Landry Parish School System, she has touched the lives of students at Port Barre High, Port Barre Elementary, Krotz Springs Elementary, Beau Chene High, and Grand Prairie Elementary. She draws on her experiences with former principals at these schools to inform her administrative decisions.
Mrs. Guidry feels a deep sense of belonging at Grand Prairie Elementary and is grateful for the support she has received from the faculty, staff, students, and community. With a strong dedication to academic excellence and student well-being, she is committed to empowering both students and teachers to reach their fullest potential. Mrs. Guidry looks forward to collaborating with teachers, parents, and the community to foster a nurturing and enriching school culture where everyone thrives.
Outside of her professional role, Mrs. Guidry enjoys hunting, fishing and crabbing with her husband and family, landscaping with her mother, and supporting her two daughters, Reese and Jenna, at various events. She is also passionate about strengthening her spiritual relationship with God, who she says continues to bless her with more than she deserves!
